Support renovation of gynanavapi vaikundam, place for last rites, Chennai
Background
As provided by the Trustee Shri. Sheshadri of the trust:
As per the guidance of Sri Maha Periyava, Gnanavapi Vaikuntam was established in Pallavaram, Chennai, more than 20 years ago. It serves as a sacred facility where families can perform the 12 days of post-cremation rituals for their departed loved ones, ensuring the proper rites are done for their pitrus (ancestors).
The vision was clear—no family, however poor, should be denied the chance to complete these sacred duties. Gnanavapi provides priests as per each family’s tradition, food for participants, 12 rooms for stay, and facilities for annual Śrāddham/Devasam. For two decades, countless families have benefitted from this noble service.
Details
The Gnanavapi facility, originally constructed with hollow blocks, has now deteriorated due to heavy water usage and age. Doors, windows, and structural sections are badly damaged and need urgent restoration.
Estimated Cost: ₹5–6 lakhs (we are raising Rs. 1L to start with).
Purpose: Structural strengthening, repair of water-damaged walls, and replacement of damaged doors and windows.
Appeal: The organizers are seeking generous support from devotees to complete these essential repairs so that this service can continue to be offered to all families in need.
