With the blessings of Moolāmnāya Sarvajña Kanchi Kamkoti Pīṭhādhipati, His Holiness Sri Sri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswati Swamigal and the suppport of generous donors this campaign has been completed.
The Tiruchendur Murugan Temple has around 850+ temple priests and workers. This includes over 550+ families which are supported by the devotee traffic in the temple.
These sustainers of Dharma have been severely impacted by the lockdown. This campaign would focus on providing financial support to these 550+ families in 3 phases. This is the first of a 3-phased campaign, looking to support 160 families in the Tiruchendur temple.
The Jagadhguru Veda Parayana Trust recently supported 377 vaidikas, gurukkals, pujaris during Shankara Jayanthi (April 2020). The trust disbursed ₹22,49,500 – details of which can be found here.
Let us support the true bearers of dharma!
The COVID-19 lockdown has impacted several people and events across the country. The Tiruchendur (Jayanthipuram) Lord Murugan temple that sustains over 800 pujakars and 500+ families associated with them will be provided with support through this campaign.
With the blessings of His Holiness Pujashri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi, the Jagadhguru Veda Parayana Trust has now taken up the cause to support 800+ Pujakas and thereby 550 families in the Tiruchendur temple town.
Why support this cause?
The pujakars in the temple town have only one means of livelihood – the temple. Besides a few local shops there is no means of making a livelihood through priestly activities – unlike in other towns. With the lockdown extended and that crowds to temples will take a while to restore, the COVID crisis’ impact will be felt even after the lockdown is lifted. Thus a support of ₹3,000 per family, albeit small, will go a long way for these pujakars.
Let us support the true bearers of dharma!
The trustees, led by Brahmashri K. Y. Bharaneedhara Sastrigal, secretary of the above trust and a popular exponent of upanyasas, are pioneering an effort to support the pujakas of the holy kshetram of Jayanthipuram (Tiruchendur).
With the blessings of Moolāmnāya Sarvajña Kanchi Kamkoti Pīṭhādhipati, His Holiness Sri Sri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswati Swamigal, the trust is raising funds to support the Pujakas of the Tiruchendur Murugan Temple during this COVID-19 lockdown. While an allied effort raised funds to provide provisions to the priests in Tiruchendur, this effort focuses on providing much needed cash relief to the pujakas.
